Probably the most significant challenge facing American society today is that the citizenry in general seem to mistake the First Amendment's guarantee of the right to speak unfettered by the government's approval or disapproval to somehow imply a right to hold opinions unfettered by fact or the faculty of reason itself and to have those opinions respected by others.
