Some open notes to myself about what I find in the Quran.

2:121 - If you're a muslim, please to not be trying to convert the Christians and the Jewish. They have their own books, and they're reading 'em the way they're supposed to.

2:126 - Question for someone who knows Islam: does this serve as an answer to "Why do good things happen to bad people?" Because it looks like it to me.

2:190-194 - Is this one of those parts where the Islamophobes are cherry-picking to find "the Quran promotes violence and terrorism"? This is "if they're killing you, kill 'em back. Until they stop. Then stop -- and FORGIVE THEM, and MAKE PEACE." Anyone who claims that promotes terrorism hasn't even scanned the Cliff's Notes to the Quran.

(But they may be right in saying the Quran instructs this violence. If they stipulate that Americans are oppressing and killing muslims, and are refusing to listen to reasonable offers of peace, and maintain hostility without provocation, then yes, this passage sanctions the use of violence against Americans, in theory.)

2:217 - Reads to me as, if people know you're a muslim, and know that means you can't start a fight with them, so they think they can stand in your way to prevent you doing what's right, then Allah would rather you disabuse them of that particular delusion.

2:224 - If you're using the Quran as justification for terrorism, UR DOIN IT RONG.

2:256 - If you force people to convert to Islam, UR DOIN IT RONG.

2:262 - is advice a lot of Christians could use. And I think Jesus gave it to them, too.
